This is another book that I have wanted to conquor for a long time. In the past I have had a really hard time reading the classics. I found the language too flowery and what are they really trying to say anyway. But I finished it. I liked the book but I think I like the fact that I finished better than the book itself (if that makes any sense). So what makes Mr. Darcy so desirable besides the fact that he’s hansome, a philathopist, tall, and extremely rich… He has one more quality that women love, he changed himself because he wanted to make himself worthy of a woman’s love. So many women have seen potential in men and tried to change them with no success. Mr. Darcy changed. What a man.

On the contrary, I do not beleive that Mr. Darcy changed. I think that she (Elizabeth) finally saw him for what he was. Not snobish, but a little akward and shy. She realized that he was not trying to sabbotage her sisters happiness he was just feircely loyal to his friend, even if his suspicions were wrong. Did he change? Honestly, I don’t remember that well. It has been a couple of years since I read the book. I have read the book a couple of times. I loved it each time. I do find the language a little flowery, but I love the challenge. One of the main reasons that I love this book is because it manages to suprise me each time. Each time I forget the true character of both Mr. Wikham(sp) and Mr. Darcy. I guess I read it far enough apart that I forget. This book is a true classic.

I will meet you halfway. You are right, Elizabeth did not see Mr. Darcy for who he was until after she ate some humble pie. But both Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy changed. Mr. Darcy told her that what she said when she refused him was true and he said that he changed to make himself worthy of her. All in all it is a great story and as you say a true classic.
