I will meet you halfway. You are right, Elizabeth did not see Mr. Darcy for who he was until after she ate some humble pie. But both Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy changed. Mr. Darcy told her that what she said when she refused him was true and he said that he changed to make himself worthy of her. All in all it is a great story and as you say a true classic.

On the contrary, I do not beleive that Mr. Darcy changed. I think that she (Elizabeth) finally saw him for what he was. Not snobish, but a little akward and shy. She realized that he was not trying to sabbotage her sisters happiness he was just feircely loyal to his friend, even if his suspicions were wrong. Did he change? Honestly, I don't remember that well. It has been a couple of years since I read the book. I have read the book a couple of times. I loved it each time. I do find the language a little flowery, but I love the challenge. One of the main reasons that I love this book is because it manages to suprise me each time. Each time I forget the true character of both Mr. Wikham(sp) and Mr. Darcy. I guess I read it far enough apart that I forget. This book is a true classic.
