This report contains major spoilers!
Well the reader is finally rewarded in the last and final segment of the Twilight saga. No disappointments in this one, almost too good. The first part of the book is all fireworks and bells with the much awaited wedding and honeymoon for Bella and Edward. Then the shock of Bella’s pregnancy hits the reader with an unexpected cliff hanger suprise. The next segment of the book is all about Jacob. It was almost painful to read and too drawn out. His haggling within the pack became rather boring. I became a little impatient with Jacob’s rambling angry thoughts and wondered if the big labor scene with Bella would ever unfold. And unfold it did. This is where the book really took off. Meyers descriptions of Bella’s labor and spawn into vampirehood could make anyone’s eyes wide and knuckles white. I loved how the reader finally is rewarded through a vampire’s eyes. The senses, feelings, and thirst were described to a T. The description of Bella’s first hunting trip was unfolded beautifully and I really don’t know how an author could describe that with grace- but she did. I thought I would throwup if we had to read gory details but it wasn’t near so bad as I thought it would be. I thought little Reneesme’s character was beautifully brought to life, it was charming to read about her. The book eventually slows down a little as the Cullens prepare for war against the volturi. This last part I found a bit tedious and drawn out. But in the end the reader is rewarded, nobody dies and everything is hunky dory. I realize that there could be a million different endings and Meyers chose the most rewarding so I am not going to critisize that because I may have done the same myself. In regard to this 4 book saga I must congratulate Meyers for a mighty fine job of brilliant storytelling. The folklore and supernatural world that she created is one to be admired. I must say I’m really looking forward to the movie. Although I must admit that in the event this movie is not as charming as the books, I would not be suprised.
