One of the first genres of books I fell in love with was Fantasy. But I have since moved away from reading books with maps in the front. This past week, I read a novel with a map. I read a fantasy novel and I really enjoyed it. This is Kristin Cashore’s debut novel about a young woman graced with powers. In her land, people with powers are called Gracelings. Gracelings have eyes of two different colours. The novel’s heroine Katsa (her name reminded me of how some people say Ketchup) has one blue eye and one green. She is learning about her powers and how to control them when she meets a someone who throws her into uncertainty. It had good pacing, if there were holes, I don’t remember them. The characters were well developed and flawed which was nice when the main characters were graced with extra powers. I will be reading more fantasy fiction I think. I’m going to have to add a new category. Kristin Cashore’s second book came out this past October, I’ll be reading it as soon as I can get my hands on a copy.

Sounds good. I’m in the middle of some more sci-fi and think I need a change. Is there any romance in it?
